Fulani herders have allegedly destroyed farm crops in Angwan Wereng village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, in apparent reprisal for an attack on their cattle.

The incident occurred at about 2 p.m. on Aug. 7, following a report that prompted troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace,  to respond to the community.

According to a military source, the troops, upon arrival, discovered that a group of Fulani herders had mobilised to the village and allegedly destroyed farm crops with machetes.

The source said the action was reportedly carried out in retaliation for an earlier attack on the herders’ cattle.

The troops secured the area and commenced efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the destruction.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
