Army troops foil kidnapping, rescue three victims in Nasarawa

Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Police, have foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued three victims along the Garaku–Keffi Road in Nasarawa State.

 

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that  the incident occurred on Aug. 15 at about 4:28 a.m., following a distress call from Angwan Mayo community that suspected robbers and kidnappers had blocked the federal highway before the village.

 

Troops of the army and other security forces were swiftly deployed to confront the criminals.

 

“Two vehicles loaded with Irish potatoes and pepper were found abandoned on the highway with no occupants. Moments later, two drivers emerged from the bush and disclosed that kidnappers had abducted three passengers.

 

“The troops pursued the suspects into the bush with maximum firepower, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee,”said the sources. 

 

The sources added that the three victims were safely rescued and reunited with their drivers, who later continued their journey to Abuja.

 

He confirmed that no casualty was recorded during the operation, adding that the security forces had intensified monitoring of the area.
