Bandit attack at illegal mining site leaves one dead in Zamfara

One person was killed following a bandit attack at an illegal mining site in Magami District, Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

 

Zagazola learnt  that on Oct. 1, 2025, at about 1330hrs, armed men suspected to be bandits opened fire at the Kokambamining site, killing one of the miners before fleeing the scene.

 

“The villagers carried the corpse to a zonal village, where angry residents attempted to attack Fulani inhabitants in reprisal. 

 

Security forces from Magami Outpost promptly responded and restored calm,” the statement said.

 

Authorities urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and allow security agencies to handle incidents as investigations continue.
