Bandit Kingpin Ado Allero Assures Commitment to Peace After Faskari Dialogue

Bandit kingpin Ado Allero on Sunday expressed optimism that peace will be restored in Katsina State and beyond following a dialogue meeting held in Faskari Local Government Area.
The parley, described as the largest of its kind, brought together several armed groups who, according to organisers, pledged to embrace peace and coexistence with local communities.
Speaking during the meeting, Allero recalled his past participation in dialogue processes across Katsina, noting that earlier efforts collapsed after the arrest of his son, which he claimed was unjust.
“At that time, we were coexisting peacefully with security agencies and authorities. I followed up on the matter from Faskari, the state level, and even to the Federal level. I contacted the Secretary to the Governor, the Miyetti Allah leadership, and even the late Mannir. In the end, I found out my son was being held without reason. That was why I denounced the peace process and resumed hostility,” he said.
Allero maintained that the latest dialogue stood out as the most significant, as it was the first time such a large number of bandits came forward openly. He expressed confidence that the outcome would sustain peace, not only in Faskari but across the country.
However, he was reminded that previous peace initiatives in Katsina often failed, with some bandits who embraced dialogue locally later continuing violent campaigns in other states.
The Faskari peace meeting was attended by local leaders, security representatives, and other stakeholders who emphasised the need for sincerity and lasting commitment to end banditry in the region.
