Operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF) have arrested a suspected bandit in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State during a surveillance operation.
Sources said the incident occurred on Feb. 5 at about 4:00 p.m. in the Mansur area near Bunga settlement, where the suspect, Mohammed Ibrahim, 25, of Jauro Iliya, was reportedly found armed with a rifle at a black market petroleum (PMS) sales point.
“The suspect fired into the air in an attempt to escape but was pursued and apprehended by JTF operatives,” the source said.
The sources added that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation, and efforts were ongoing to uncover any accomplices.
Security agencies urged residents to report suspicious movements and illegal activities in their communities to aid ongoing operations against banditry.
