The Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād(JAS) Boko Haram faction have suffered another devastating loss of scores of its foot soldiers in Nigerian Airforce strikes in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The intelligence-led aerial operation launched with Super Tukano targeted the jihadist group’s strategic human and material capacity in the camp of Ali Ngulde in the North East of Mandara Mountains on June 6, 2023.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, a Counterinsurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad region that scores of the terrorists were killed while others escaped through hill caves to escape.
He said that the attack aircrafts fired several bombs and destroyed a red roof house with a Boko Haram flag concealing a Ali Ngulde, the Amir Jaysh of the Boko Haram and other top Commanders.
"Some of the top Commanders like Ali Ngulde and Muke escaped the airstrikes, while scores of them met their waterloo.
The coordinated joint air and ground offensive came barely hours after similar strikes were carried out on ISWAP convoy between Aulam and Kafa, killing unconfirmed numbers of the terrorists and destroying two of their trucks.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall IO Amao, has launched an intensive offensive Air operation nicknamed: OPERATION WARUN 3, across all the Theatres of Operation with the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai as the main focus.
The aim is to soften ground for the surface forces to exploit with a view to facilitating speedy elimination of the already defeated terrorists and bandits across the country.
"OPERATION WARUN 3 has reaffirmed our offensive Air support for the ongoing operation Desert and Lake Sanity II as well as Operation Mountain Sanity,"said the competent sources.
