Operation Fansan Yamma troops arrest terrorist collaborators, destroy enclaves in Kaduna, Katsina

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators, recovered weapons and ammunition, and destroyed terrorist enclaves during separate operations in Kaduna and Katsina States.
The operations, conducted on Aug. 27 and 28, were part of ongoing intelligence-driven efforts to disrupt terrorist networks and deny them freedom of movement across the Joint Operations Area.
In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 on Aug. 27 acted on intelligence that led to the arrest of a suspected terrorist collaborator.
According to a statement by the Joint Task Force Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the suspect was found in possession of two locally fabricated guns and 13 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.
Preliminary investigation reportedly revealed that the suspect had been tasked to deliver the weapons and ammunition to another individual.
Troops subsequently conducted a follow-up operation based on information obtained from the suspect, leading to the arrest of two additional suspects allegedly linked to the movement of the weapons.
The three suspects, alongside the recovered weapons, ammunition and other items, are currently undergoing further investigation.
In a separate operation in Katsina State on Aug. 28, troops of Sector 2, supported by other security agencies, conducted a clearance operation around Maharba and Karaduwa in Matazu Local Government Area.
The troops cleared and destroyed identified terrorist enclaves and structures reportedly used to facilitate criminal activities in the area.
The operation also targeted an enclave linked to notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, whose group has allegedly been terrorising communities in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas.
Danja said the terrorist leader narrowly escaped as troops advanced towards the enclave.
Further exploitation of the area led to the recovery of an RPG-7 tube, a motorcycle, mobile phones and other items.
The troops subsequently conducted fighting patrols across the general area to consolidate the gains and prevent the terrorists from re-establishing their presence.
The latest operations, according to the Joint Task Force, underscore the sustained efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt the movement of weapons and logistics, and deny criminal elements access to operational enclaves.
The Joint Task Force said it remained committed to coordinated and intelligence-led operations aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities and restoring lasting peace and security across affected communities.
