Borno CJTF arrest 5 suspect for vandalising borehole meant to provide water for 70,000 IDPs

Civilian Joint Task Force attached to Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested five suspects in Bama Local Government Area of Borno state for vandalising solar powered borehole meant to provide portable water Internally Displaced Persons, Zagazola learn.

About 70,000 IDPs who are taken refuge in Bama camp depended on the borehole as their major sources of water, the action of the criminals however, plunged the IDPs camp into untold water scarcity leaving
them with no option but to make use of unsafe sources of water that is available.

It was gathered that the suspects who specialised in vandalising government and private properties in Bama town were apprehended on May 27, following credible intelligence.

Upon interrogation, the gang confessed to the crime, noting that they sold the inverters for N5000 in Maiduguri.

The two buyers were arrested and handed over to the security agencies for investigation.
