The Police Command in Borno says it has evacuated the body of a suspected vandal who was electrocuted while attempting to tamper with a transformer at Borno State University, Maiduguri.

ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Maiduguri.

Daso said the incident occurred on Sunday morning, when the lifeless body of an unidentified male was discovered near a transformer within the university premises.

He said preliminary investigation indicated that the deceased was electrocuted while trying to vandalise electrical installations.

“The Command, in collaboration with the Borno State Fire Service, has evacuated the body to the hospital for proper medical procedures.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, psc, warns criminal elements to desist from acts of vandalism and sabotage, as such actions endanger lives and compromise public safety.

“The Command reassures residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements around public infrastructure to the nearest police station,” Daso said.
