Troops of Operation EGWUA A TITE II under 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have intensified their onslaught against bandits in Kogi State, eliminating scores of terrorists and destroying their hideouts in sustained clearance operations.

Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade, stated this in a statement issued in Lokoja on Saturday.

He said the operation, which commenced on Sept. 1, 2025, had yielded significant results in Tunga, Ankomi, Aleke, Ungwan Soni, and Ungwan Nyaba communities, among others.

Abdullahi said troops of 126 Battalion, led by the Commanding Officer in conjunction with Other Hybrid Forces (OHF), engaged bandits in Tunga general area, where two bandits were neutralised.

“In a follow-up exploitation led by the Commander, 12 Brigade and Force Commander, Operation Accord III, Brig.-Gen. Kasim Umar Sidi, several bandits’ settlements were destroyed, while troops continued to dominate the general area with patrols and ambush operations,” he said.

According to him, on Sept. 2, troops, with close air support from 405 Helicopter Combat Training Group, launched an air combat mission on Ankomi, engaging fleeing bandits on sight and neutralising scores.

He added that on Sept. 3, troops conducted clearance operations in Aleke, Ungwan Soni, and Ungwan Nyaba communities, where one Mr. Pabo Suleiman and his two children were successfully rescued and reunited with their family. Five locally made dane guns were also recovered.

Abdullahi further disclosed that on Sept. 5, troops eliminated a notorious bandit commander, Kachalla Bala, and five of his fighters during a fierce gun battle at their hideout near Tunga.

“On the same day, troops conducted a successful ambush operation along a suspected bandits’ main supply route at Agbede–Adankoo Bridge (Mosalanci Boka), neutralising a logistics courier. Items recovered included one motorcycle, two mobile phones, and an AK-47 magazine loaded with 20 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition,” he said.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Army to sustaining the tempo of operations until peace and security were fully restored to troubled communities in Kogi State.
