Delegations have begun arriving Abuja for the inaugural African Chiefs of Defence Staff (CDS) Summit scheduled to open on Monday, Aug. 25.
Zagazola Makama reports that a three-man delegation from Congo Brazzaville was the first to arrive ahead of the three-day conference.
The summit, which is the first of its kind on the continent, is expected to attract delegations from 35 African countries.
It will provide a platform for African defence chiefs to deliberate on common security challenges, strengthen military cooperation, and promote regional stability.
The meeting is also expected to evolve strategies to tackle insurgency, terrorism, banditry, piracy, and other transnational security threats confronting the continent.
Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, is hosting the event in Abuja, with top military leaders and strategic partners expected to participate.
