An elderly farmer, Jibrin Lamido, 70, was found dead with a deep head wound on Friday morning, after failing to return home from his farm located near the Teachers Training Center in Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State.

Zagazola Makama  gathered that the deceased, a resident of Jauro Kuna area in Gombe metropolis, had left home on Thursday at about 8:30 a.m. to tend to his farm but never returned.

His son, Ahmed Jibrin, a staff of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Gombe, reported the incident on Friday, saying repeated efforts to reach his father by phone throughout the previous day were unsuccessful.

Ahmed said he and his younger brother went searching early Friday and tragically discovered their father lying unconscious on the farm with a deep cut on his head, believed to have been inflicted by an individual identified as “Babawuro”, whose surname is yet to be established.

The victim was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, where doctors on duty pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police personnel were invited to the scene and the hospital following the report. Preliminary investigation suggests a targeted attack, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the suspect now at large.
