Farmer killed on way to cassava farm in Karim-Lamido, Taraba

A 55-year-old farmer, Iliya Saidu, has been killed by unknown assailants while on his way to his cassava farm in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Sources disclosed that the incident occurred on Sunday, Jan. 25, at about 8:30 a.m., when the victim, a native of the Karinjo tribe and resident of Step II, Karim town, left his home for his farm located between Gamu and Pira villages.
According to the sources, the Ward Councillor representing Karim ‘A’ Ward, Hon. Alison Adamu, reported the matter at the Karim-Lamido Police Division after Saidu was found attacked and killed by persons yet to be identified.
“The scene was visited by detectives, photographs were taken and the corpse was evacuated to the Comprehensive Health Centre, Karim-Lamido, for autopsy. After the doctor’s examination, the body was released to the family for burial,” the sources said.
They added that investigation has commenced to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing, while further developments would be communicated as they unfold.
