Nigerian Army troops have rescued four passengers abducted by armed bandits along the Adoka–Ankpa Road in Benue State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 25, when the assailants intercepted a black Hummer bus en route from Omaran in Kwara State to Makurdi.
According to the sources, the bandits forced the vehicle to stop and took seven occupants into the surrounding bush.
“Troops responded swiftly after a distress call and, in collaboration with other joint security elements, combed the nearby forest. Four of the abducted passengers were rescued unharmed, and the vehicle was recovered,” the sources said.
The sources added that operations were ongoing to track the fleeing suspects and secure the release of the remaining three victims.
The Army and other security agencies have intensified patrols and clearance operations along the Adoka–Ankpa axis to deter further attacks and reassure commuters.
