Fire destroys 40 makeshift shelters at Mafa IDP camp, no casualties reported

A fire outbreak at the Mafa Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp on Wednesday morning destroyed 40 makeshift shelters along with foodstuffs and other household items.

 

Zagazola Makama learnt the incident occurred at about 11:20 a.m. The Federal and State Fire Services were immediately contacted, while patrol teams led by the DPO Mafa assisted in crowd control and preventing looting.

 

The fire was eventually extinguished with no reported injuries or loss of life. The value of the destroyed properties has not yet been ascertained, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
