Suspected Fulani militias have attacked Tim village in Chakfem District of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau, killing five persons and setting ablaze 10 thatched houses.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, left several others injured.
Preliminary findings revealed that the assault may have been a reprisal linked to allegations of cattle rustling in the area.
The corpses of the victims have since been buried in line with local customs, while the injured are receiving treatment in hospital.
Residents said the late response of security operatives was due to the difficult terrain, poor network coverage, and long distance of the community.
Although calm has returned to the area, tension remains high as villagers fear further reprisals if the underlying grievances are not addressed.
