Fulani bandits  kill local vigilante on sentry duty in Plateau

A local vigilante member has been killed by suspected fulani bandits  while on sentry duty at Kafi Abu village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred at about 8:02 p.m. on Sept. 10, when troops of Sector 4, Sub-Sector 41, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), responded to a report of an attack on members of the local vigilante group.

Military sources said the troops arrived at the location and found the lifeless body of the victim, identified as Mr Peter Gyang, bearing gunshot wounds.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Gyang was on duty alongside three other members of the local vigilante group when the attackers struck.

The three other vigilantes reportedly fled the scene, leaving Gyang behind.

Troops have commenced a manhunt for the assailants while conducting fighting patrols to dominate the general area and prevent further attacks.
