Fulani Herder Killed in Suspected Irigwe Militia Attack in Plateau

A Fulani herder has been killed in an attack allegedly carried out by suspected Irigwe militia members in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that troops of Sector 3, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), responded to a distress call at about 4:00 p.m. on June 27 following reports of an attack on herders grazing around Patchido Village.
On arrival at the scene, the troops discovered the body of the victim, identified as Auwal Yakubu.
The sources said the deceased sustained gunshot wounds and machete cuts.
Security personnel evacuated the body while efforts have been intensified to track down and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
The incident is the latest in a series of violent attacks that have continued to heighten tensions in parts of Bassa Local Government Area despite ongoing security operations in the state.
