GOC Visits Frontline Troops in Sokoto, Assesses Operational Readiness

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North West), Operation Fasan Yamma, Maj.-Gen. Bamidele Koughna, has visited frontline troops in Shinkafi and Isa Local Government Areas of Sokoto State to assess their operational readiness.

 

Security sources told Zagazola  that the operational visit took place on June 24 and was accompanied by formation commanders.

 

The sources said the GOC was received at the 26 Battalion location in Shinkafi by the Commanding Officer, who presented a comprehensive operational briefing on the security situation and ongoing military activities in the area.

 

During the visit, Maj.-Gen. Koughna provided tactical and logistical guidance to the troops, aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness and ensuring mission success.

 

The GOC also visited the Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Jangeru, where he inspected the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance system and assessed its coverage of identified terrorist crossing points to improve situational awareness and operational efficiency.

 

The team subsequently proceeded to the Forward Operating Base in Isa for further engagements with troops deployed in the area.

 

The visit ended without incident.
