At least 37 bandits have been neutralized, while several others sustained injuries, in a joint air and ground offensive by troops conducting clearance operations in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation, executed by ground troops with support from the Air Component of Operation FANSAR YAMMA, on March 10, 2025, targeted terrorist hideouts in the area.
According to military sources, at about 11:00 a.m. yesterday, a fighter jet on reconnaissance spotted a large gathering of heavily armed bandits preparing to ambush advancing troops.
The airstrike was immediately launched, resulting in heavy casualties among the insurgents. Ground troops later swept through the area, eliminating the fleeing militants.
“I can confirmed that 37 bodies were seen loitering all over the place , while several other terrorists managed to escape with severe injuries,” the sources said.
The sources added that many wounded fighters fled into the forest, with troops tracking their movements.
