Two brothers surrender to troops in Damboa, Borno

Two suspected members of a terrorist group have surrendered to troops of 25 Brigade, Operation Hadin Kai, in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the two suspects, identified as Mustapha Tijani, 27, and Malayi Tijani, 18, surrendered at about 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 2, 2026.
The development followed recent cordon-and-search operations conducted in an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Damboa town and an appeal by the Commander of 25 Brigade urging residents to encourage relatives involved in terrorist activities to renounce the activities and surrender.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the two repentant terrorists are biological brothers.
The sources added that their elder brother, Mallam Modu Tijani, who had also renounced terrorism, currently resides at the Unity IDP Camp in Damboa.
The two suspects are currently in the custody of the troops for further investigation and appropriate action.
The development underscores ongoing efforts by security forces to encourage terrorist members and their associates to abandon violence and embrace the surrender process.
