Ground Troops, NAF Foil ISWAP Attack on Rann, Neutralise Several Terrorists

The Nigerian Army troops under Operation Hadin Kai, supported by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Air Component, have successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on Rann, Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno State.

The attack, which commenced at about 2300hrs on Thursday, was met with immediate and sustained resistance from ground troops, triggering an intense firefight that lasted until approximately 0200hrs. The gallant soldiers held their positions, inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy.

As the surviving terrorists attempted to withdraw from the engagement area, the Air Component swiftly executed precision air strikes on the retreating elements.

In a decisive display of firepower and joint operational efficiency, the strikes neutralised several more insurgents.

So far, ground forces have confirmed the elimination of seven terrorists, with ongoing exploitation operations in areas targeted during the NAF bombardment to ascertain the full extent of enemy losses.
