Gunmen Attack Convoy of Abia Governor’s Aide, Vehicles Damaged

Suspected criminals have opened fire on the convoy of Dr. Oluebube Chukwu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, along the Port Harcourt–Enugu Expressway on Sunday.
Sources said that the incident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. shortly after the convoy passed Ihube Junction, opposite the Imo State Produce Point, within Imo State territory.
It was gathered that three armed men standing by the roadside suddenly shot at the Toyota Hilux escort vehicle conveying two police officers, damaging both the Hilux and Dr. Chukwu’s Toyota Highlander SUV.
The sources confirmed that live bullets penetrated the Highlander where Dr. Chukwu was seated, but no injuries were recorded. Examination of the SUV at the station revealed four bullet holes.
