Two persons have been killed and two others abducted in separate attacks by gunmen in Kwara State, according to reports from security sources.
Zagazola Makama report that in the first incident, which occurred on Thursday at about 2:00 p.m., armed men stormed Gaa Olomitutu in Agbeku via Igbaja, where they reportedly attacked the home of one Abubakar Mohammed. The assailants matcheted his 18-year-old son, Mohammodu Abubakar, to death and abducted his wife, Aishat Abubakar, 30, to an unknown destination.
In a separate incident later that night, gunmen invaded Campu Village near Kaiama around 9:00 p.m., shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents. A local resident, Salihu Baa-Campu Sanni, was shot dead during the attack, while a farmer, Zakari Ibrahim, sustained gunshot injuries and is receiving treatment at General Hospital, Kaiama.
The attackers also abducted Gabriel Uzor Sopulu, 45, an Igbo businessman, and made away with two Bajaj motorcycles. The body of the deceased was deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Vigilante groups in neighbouring communities have been alerted as security forces intensify search efforts to rescue the abducted victim.
