Gunmen kill police inspector, civilian in Benue attack

Suspected Fulani herders have killed a police officer and a civilian in a deadly attack on Ipelle Village in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

Zagazola Makama gathered that the  incident occurred on Tuesday evening, when armed assailants stormed the village and opened fire on residents.

Authorities confirmed that Inspector Daniel Omanyebu, attached to Ipelle Police Outpost under Agatu Division, and one unidentified civilian were fatally shot during the assault.

The body of the slain officer has been recovered and deposited at a mortuary, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the heinous act.
