Gunmen kill three illegal miners, injure one in Plateau

Unknown gunmen have ambushed and killed three miners  while returning from a mining site in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

 

The Police Command in the state said the incident occurred at about 9:20 p.m. on April 3 in Chwel Nyango community.

 

Police sources identified the victims as Deme John, 23; Luka Pam, 25; and Emmanuel, 24, who were reportedly attacked by armed men while on their way back from a mining site.

 

The sources disclosed that another victim, Pam Billy, 54, sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attack.

 

According to the police, a team led by the Divisional Police Officer of ‘B’ Division, Bukuru, was immediately deployed to the scene upon receipt of the distress call.

 

The injured victim was rushed to Bimma Hospital for medical attention, while additional security personnel have been deployed to the area to de-escalate tension.

 

The command said investigations have commenced, with efforts ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.
