The Hunters Group of Nigeria has alleged that one of its personnel was assaulted by officers of the Nigeria Police Force, resulting in injuries that required hospital treatment.

In a statement made available to journalists on Thursday, the group said the incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on June 4.

According to the statement, the victim was allegedly beaten by police personnel without provocation or any known offense having been committed.

The group claimed that the assault left the hunter seriously injured and unable to walk unaided.

It further alleged that the same police officers later transported the victim to a hospital after realising the severity of his condition.

The Hunters Group expressed concern over the incident, describing it as part of a pattern of similar occurrences involving its personnel.

The organisation stated that it had consistently encouraged its members to operate within the confines of the law and had previously sought to promote peaceful cooperation with security agencies.

The group called for an investigation into the incident and urged relevant authorities to take appropriate action.

Photographs purportedly showing injuries sustained by the victim were attached to the statement.

Efforts to obtain the reaction of the Nigeria Police Force on the allegations were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
