Mob kills suspected motorcycle thief in Bauchi community

The Police Command in Bauchi State says a suspected motorcycle thief has been killed in a mob action in Sandigalau Village, Zaki Local Government Area.

 

Sources said that on Aug. 31, at about 8:00 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Zaki Division received information that a man was found lying in a pool of blood in a bush at Sandigalau.

 

The sources said Police operatives visited the scene and evacuated the victim to General Hospital, Katagum, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor and the remains deposited at the hospital mortuary.

 

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased and two accomplices, now at large, had gone to Marana Village in Udubo District of Gamawa LGA on a Honda motorcycle with registration number ABJ700.

 

“They allegedly stole a motorcycle, Boxer model, belonging to one Idris Abdullahi of the same village.

 

“In the process, Idris raised an alarm which attracted residents who lynched one of the suspects, while the two others escaped with the stolen motorcycle,” the sources  said.

 

The sources  added that the Honda motorcycle used by the suspects was recovered from the scene, while efforts were ongoing to trace the fleeing suspects and recover the stolen motorcycle.
