Lakurawa:Two security personnel killed in ambush in Niger’s Dosso region

Two members of Niger’s Defense and Security Forces (FDS) were killed in an ambush by suspected Lakurawa militants in Dankassari township, Dosso Region, in southwest Niger.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama on Friday that the attack occurred around 1 a.m. on the night of May 22 to 23, when a patrol team was ambushed by gunmen believed to be members of the Lakurawas, a faction linked to the Islamic State group.
The assailants reportedly laid in wait along a rural route near Dankassari before opening fire on the soldiers.
The incident led to the death of two security personnel, while the attackers escaped before reinforcements arrived.
