Armed bandits have shot and injured two passengers, including a magistrate, along the Kontagora–Tegina road in Niger State.
Sources said that the attack occurred on Sept. 10 at about 12:10 p.m. when a commercial Toyota Corolla with registration number MAK 238 XA conveying passengers from Minna to Kontagora ran into the bandits at Tudun-Fulani village.
“The hoodlums, who were crossing the road and shooting sporadically, injured two of the passengers, identified as Mr. Zakari Benjamin, Chief Magistrate of Rijau Magistrate Court, and one Samaila Yusha’u. Both sustained gunshot injuries to their right legs,” sources said.
The sources said security forces were quickly mobilised to the scene, while the injured victims were taken to General Hospital, Kontagora, where they are responding to treatment.
According to the sources, concerted efforts are ongoing to track down the criminals.
