Maize, Rice and Onion Farms Destroyed by herders in Jos South

Crops belonging to four farmers have been destroyed by Fulano herders at Sabon Gida area of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred on Aug 10, at about 1:00 p.m. on Monday when troops of Sector 6, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), deployed in Bukuru, responded to a report of farm destruction in the area.

A military source told Zagazola Makama that troops, upon arrival at the location, discovered that maize, rice and onion crops belonging to Mrs Hurung Davou and three other farmers had been destroyed.

The source also disclosed that a cow was found in a ditch with injuries and was subsequently slaughtered by the Wakili Ardo Gyel.

Meanwhile, security forces have commenced efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the destruction for necessary legal action.

The incident comes amid heightened concerns over the protection of farmlands and livestock in farming communities across Plateau State.
