The Air component Operation Hadin Kai, has conducted precision airstrikes on terrorist positions in Borno State, eliminating several insurgents and destroying a vehicle concealed under thick vegetation.
A military source disclosed that the operation was carried out in the early hours of June 7 during an armed reconnaissance and air interdiction mission over the Ali Sherifti general area.
According to the source, the air assets, operating under the call sign “Guardian”, identified and tracked a group of eight terrorists gathered under a tree at the location.
The source said further surveillance also revealed another group of four terrorists positioned near a vehicle hidden beneath dense foliage within the same area.
“Following positive identification, the air component executed a precision strike on the first group, successfully neutralising the eight terrorists.
“Subsequent battle damage assessment indicated movement by four additional terrorists within the vicinity who attempted to flee the area,” the source said.
The source added that a follow-up strike was immediately conducted against the second group and the concealed vehicle.
According to the assessment, the vehicle was destroyed, while no further terrorist movement was observed after the strike.
The sources air interdiction missions was aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities, disrupting their mobility and denying them freedom of action across the North-East theatre.
Military authorities said sustained coordination between air and ground forces continued to yield significant operational successes against insurgent elements in the region.
They added that troops remained committed to maintaining pressure on terrorist enclaves and supporting ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in affected communities.
