The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) on Monday said investigations into alleged acts of indiscipline involving 16 officers have been concluded, with those found culpable to be arraigned before appropriate military judicial panels.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) disclosed this in an update signed by the Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Samaila Uba,

It recalled that the DHQ had issued a statement in October 2025 on the arrest of the officers over alleged breaches of service regulations.

According to the statement, the comprehensive investigation, conducted in line with established military procedures, examined the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the affected personnel.

“The findings identified a number of the officers with allegations of plotting to overthrow the government, which is inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards required of members of the AFN,” it said.

The DHQ said officers with cases to answer would be formally arraigned before appropriate military judicial panels to face trial in accordance with the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations.

It added that the measures being taken were purely disciplinary and part of institutional mechanisms to preserve order, discipline and operational effectiveness within the ranks.

“The Armed Forces remain resolute in maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, loyalty and respect for constitutional authority,” the statement said.
