Murder suspect arrested over killing of hunters’ commander in Benue

Security operatives in Benue have arrested one of the prime suspects in the murder of the Commander of the Hunters Group in Tarka Local Government Area of the state.
Zagazola Makama gathered that the suspect, identified as Aondoakaa Chountyo, also known as ‘Small Lion’, aged 30, was apprehended on Saturday in connection with the gruesome killing that occurred on June 20 along Akume Road in Wannune, headquarters of Tarka LGA.
Sources said the deceased was ambushed and killed in what is believed to be a targeted attack by a criminal gang operating in the area.
Efforts are currently ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who are said to be on the run.
In a separate development, there was panic in Yagba Extension, North Bank area of Makurdi, following the discovery of a lifeless body behind a residential building.
The incident was reported by Insp. Ezekiel Nana, a serving officer at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), whose wife discovered the corpse near their residence.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained, but security operatives have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
