14-year-old boy dies after being administered illicit concoction in Gombe

A 14-year-old boy has died after being allegedly lured and administered a locally concocted substance by a man in Ashaka, Funakaye Local Government Area, Gombe State.

 

Police sources said Usman Dala, the father of the deceased, reported to the Ashaka Police Outstation that on May 1, 2025, his son, Abdullahi, and his friend, Hassan Adamu, both 14 years old, were enticed by one Babayo Adamu from Feshingo, Ashaka. 

 

The sources explained that the  two minors were reportedly given a harmful concoction, which resulted in Abdullahi’s death, while Hassan Adamu was rushed to Bajoga General Hospital for medical attention.

 

“At approximately 6:12 p.m., the police received the report and swiftly proceeded to the scene, where Abdullahi’s lifeless body was photographed for documentation. Hassan Adamu’s condition was described as critical but stable after receiving urgent care at the hospital,”said the sources. 

 

Investigations are currently ongoing as the police work to gather further details and apprehend the suspect, Babayo Adamu, who remains at large. 

 

The case has drawn attention to the dangers of illicit substances being administered to young people, and local authorities are calling for heightened vigilance and community awareness.
