One Injured as Suspected Armed Herders Attack Benue Community

A resident was injured when suspected armed herders attacked Tse Orhungur community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, prompting a swift response by troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS).

 

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 6:19 p.m. on June 24.

 

The sources said troops deployed at Yogbo under Sector 1 of OPWS responded to a distress call reporting an attack by suspected armed herders on the community.

 

On arrival, the troops found that the attackers had already fled after injuring one resident.

 

The injured victim was immediately evacuated by the troops to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, where he is receiving medical treatment.

 

The sources said troops have intensified efforts to track down and apprehend the perpetrators, while security patrols have been reinforced in the area to prevent further attacks.

 

No arrest had been made as of the time of filing this report.
