A 36-year-old man, identified as Alpha Joel, has been killed during an attack by fulani bandits on Dindiyes Village in Panyam District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred at about 3:00 a.m. on Sept. 24, 2025, when troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), responded to a distress report concerning an attack on the community by suspected Fulani militias.
The troops’ quick intervention reportedly forced the attackers to withdraw from the area in disarray.
The troops subsequently exploited the location and discovered the corpse of Joel, who was reportedly performing sentry duty in the community when the attackers struck.
The security forces have since dominated the general area and commenced offensive operations and a manhunt for the fleeing assailants.
Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack, while security forces continue to maintain a presence in the community to prevent further attacks.
