The Commander of Sector 4, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), alongside the Commander of Sub-Sector 41, has visited NTV community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State following an attack that claimed the lives of two local vigilantes and left another injured.

The visit took place at about 1030 hours on Sept. 16, 2026, a day after suspected attackers opened fire on local vigilantes who were on sentry duty within the community.

During the visit, the Sector Commander sympathised with the families of the deceased and the Magharvul community over the loss of their loved ones.

Addressing community members, the commander urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in preventing criminal activities and responding effectively to threats within the area.

He also encouraged the community to sustain its cooperation and synergy with security agencies as part of collective efforts to restore and maintain peace.

Following the engagement, the commander led troops in clearance operations across surrounding bushes and mountainous terrain identified by community members as possible routes used by the attackers.

The operation was aimed at denying suspected armed groups freedom of movement and disrupting their ability to launch further attacks against the community.

Troops also provided security cover during the burial of the victims to prevent any possible disruption and reassure residents.

Security sources said the morale and fighting efficiency of troops remain satisfactory as operations continue to dominate the area and prevent further attacks.
