Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued three kidnapped victims following a swift response to an attack by terrorists along the Anka–Gummi road in Zamfara State.
The troops, operating in Anka Local Government Area, were on routine patrol when they received information that terrorists had attacked a commercial vehicle along the highway.
The soldiers immediately moved to the location and engaged the attackers, forcing them to flee into the surrounding terrain and abandon their captives.
During the intervention, the troops safely rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered a handheld communication radio reportedly abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
The rescued victims are currently receiving necessary medical assessment and care before being reunited with their families.
Meanwhile, troops have intensified search and recovery operations to locate the affected vehicle and track down the fleeing attackers.
Security forces have also maintained a strong presence along the Anka–Gummi corridor, with continuous patrols aimed at protecting motorists, securing the critical transport route and denying criminal elements freedom of movement.
The successful rescue underscores the importance of sustained military presence and rapid response along vulnerable highways in Zamfara, where armed groups continue to target travellers and commercial vehicles.
