Police arrest 19 suspected illegal miners in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested 19 suspected illegal miners during a joint operation in Zurmi and Maradun Local Government Areas of the state.
Sources in Gusau said the arrests followed an operation carried out on Friday by the Anti-Illegal Mining Unit to curb unlawful mining activities.
According to the sources, the operation took place at about 2:00 p.m. in Boko Village, Zurmi LGA, and Kaya Village, Maradun LGA.
“The joint operation resulted in the arrest of 19 suspects involved in illegal mining activities. Investigations are ongoing,” the sources said.
The command added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
It reaffirmed its commitment to tackling illegal mining and other criminal activities across the state.
