Police arrest armed robber, recover pistol magazine in Abuja

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a pistol magazine with live ammunition following a reported robbery in Durumi District.

 

Sources said on Thursday in Abuja that the incident occurred on Tuesday at about 11 a.m. at the UK Car Park, Durumi.

 

The sources  said the victim, Tijani Kaumi of Gwarimpa 3rd Avenue, was lured under the pretext of buying a phone by one Ismail Yakubu of no fixed address. 

 

Upon alighting from his car, Kaumi was attacked by a group of armed men who robbed him of valuables including an iPhone 15, iPhone 11 Pro Max, a Nokia phone, a wristwatch, and ₦20,000 in cash.

 

“The victim was also forced to transfer ₦100,000 from his Opay account to the suspects’ Opay account. On receipt of the report, police operatives visited the scene and arrested one Ismail Aliyu, also of no fixed address, recovering a pistol magazine with one live round of ammunition from him,” said the sources 

 

The sources added that the suspect is currently in custody undergoing interrogation, while efforts to apprehend the fleeing accomplices are ongoing.
