Police Arrest Two Armed Robbery Suspects in Abuja, Hunt for Others

The Nigerian Police Force Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers following a raid on a residence in Wuse Zone 7 in the Federal Capital Territory. 

 

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the arrest was made on March 5. at about 4:15 a.m.

 

The sources said that five armed robbers in a black Golf 3 car invaded House No. 24 Lome Crescent, Wuse Zone 7, where they stole electronic appliances and two mobile phones from the occupants.

 

“Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Wuse Division deployed a combined team of operatives led by Superintendent Luka Ayuba to the scene.

 

“Two suspects, Abubakar Kamai of Kaduna Road and Usman Haruna, 25, of Dei-Dei, were arrested,” said the sources. 

 

The sources said the suspects were almost lynched by an angry mob before security operatives intervened. One of them, who sustained injuries due to mob action, was taken to Wuse General Hospital for treatment.

 

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the robbery, while efforts were ongoing to track down the three fleeing gang members.

 

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
