The Katsina State Police Command has foiled a cattle rustling attempt in Jibia Local Government Area and recovered 43 rustled animals.
Sources said that the incident occurred on Friday, Aug. 2, at about 12:15 a.m., when suspected armed bandits attacked Rimin Kusa and Maddatai villages near the Nigeria–Niger Republic border.
Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer swiftly mobilized an APC patrol team, C Watch operatives, and local vigilante members to the scene. The team engaged the rustlers and successfully blocked their escape route.
During the confrontation, the criminals abandoned the animals and fled into the surrounding forest.
A total of 43 cows were recovered, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
