The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt by armed bandits along the Dandume-Funtua Road, rescuing seven victims unhurt.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on March 24 at about 8:30 p.m. when a group of bandits attempted to stop a Canter truck carrying bags of grains from Jabiri Funtua Market at Niyasu Junction, Nasarawa Village.
The driver refused to stop, prompting the attackers to open fire, causing the vehicle to lose control and capsize into a pit.
Upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dandume swiftly mobilized operatives of Operation Sharan Daji, who engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle.
The criminals fled into the bush with gunshot wounds, abandoning their plan.
All seven truck occupants were rescued and have since been reunited with their families.
