Police hunt herders over farmer’s killing in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a manhunt for suspected herders who allegedly macheted a farmer to death at Galambi village, Bauchi Local Government Area.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the e incident occurred on Oct. 24 at about 9:00 a.m. when the victim, identified as Mr Godiya Yakubu, 57, of Yelwan Kagadama area in Bauchi metropolis, went to his rice farm and met some herders grazing on it.
The sources said Yakubu attempted to chase the herders out of his farmland but was attacked with machetes by the suspects, leaving him with severe injuries.
The sources said that upon receiving the report, officers from the Liman-Katagum Division moved to the scene and evacuated the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi.
“Unfortunately, the victim was certified dead by a medical doctor and the corpse was deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy,” the sources stated.
The sources added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, while an investigation into the incident continues.
