The Osun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the suspected cult-related killing of a 40-year-old man whose lifeless body was found inside a vehicle in Osogbo.

Police sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident was reported at about 12:15 a.m. on July 25 after the body of Abayomi David was discovered inside a Toyota Camry with Lagos registration number LND 468 HL along Alatori Road, Olude, Osogbo.

The sources said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dugbe Division immediately led a team of detectives to the scene.

On arrival, the officers found that the vehicle’s engine was still running, while nine expended ammunition shells were recovered around the vicinity, suggesting that the victim was shot at close range.

Crime scene photographs were taken, and the body was evacuated to the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital Mortuary, Osogbo, where it was deposited for an autopsy.

Police suspect the killing may be connected to cult-related violence, although investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the murder.

The command said efforts have been intensified to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing, while surveillance and monitoring continue.
