The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation into a suspected criminal conspiracy and theft involving 40 tonnes of soybeans valued at ₦32 million, following the recovery of an abandoned trailer in Gezawa Local Government Area.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the case was reported at about 4:00 p.m. by Abubakar Nasiru of Dan Sumaila Plaza, Dansarai Quarters.
According to the report, on July 3, 2026, one of the company’s regular transporters, Mansur Usman of Mariri Quarters, introduced another transporter identified as Bature Bakanike of By-Pass Unguwa Uku, who is currently at large. The duo conveyed the consignment of 40 tonnes of soybeans in a trailer bearing Bauchi registration number TRR269YX to Dan Sumaila Plaza.
Sources said the complainant became suspicious during negotiations and declined to purchase the consignment, prompting the transporters to leave the premises. However, the trailer driver claimed the vehicle had developed a mechanical fault and was unable to move.
Later that day, the suspects reportedly returned with another trailer, trans-loaded the soybean consignment into the second vehicle, abandoned the original trailer within the premises, and fled to an unknown destination with the goods.
Following the report, police officers were deployed to the scene, where the abandoned trailer was recovered as an exhibit.
The Kano State Police Command has commenced investigations to trace the fleeing suspects, recover the stolen consignment, and unravel the circumstances surrounding the suspected theft.
