The incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 18 when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Fika, received a distress call from Lamido Umar Mohammed of Yayaru village.
The caller reportedly alerted the police that the residence of Umar Lamido had been invaded by unidentified armed men and that the victim had sustained an arrow wound to his stomach.

However, upon sighting the police vehicle, the suspected criminals reportedly attacked the operatives with locally made firearms, bows, arrows and cutlasses.
The operatives responded to the attack, leading to a gun battle during which one of the suspects was neutralised.
Another suspect, identified as Halidu Lamida, from Dubuluwa in Fika LGA, was arrested in connection with the incident, while other members of the group fled the scene.
The body of the neutralised suspect and the injured victim were evacuated to Fika General Hospital for medical attention.
The suspect was subsequently confirmed dead by a medical doctor, while the victim remains on admission receiving treatment.
Police recovered bows and arrows, a cutlass and a bag containing charms from the scene.
The arrested suspect remains in police custody as investigation continues to establish the identities of the fleeing accomplices and determine their involvement in the attack.
Security operatives have intensified efforts to track down the remaining suspects and prevent further criminal activities in the area.
