Bayelsa Assembly Suspends Sagbama LGA Chairperson, Vice Chairman

The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has approved the suspension of the Chairperson of Sagbama Local Government Area, Hon. Alice Allen Tangi, and her Vice Chairman, Hon. Sufade Jefferson Tobi, over alleged gross misconduct.

The suspension was approved during plenary on Aug. 18, following a motion considered by members of the State House of Assembly.

According to sources , the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, said the decision was taken in accordance with Section 22, subsections 6 and 7 of the Bayelsa State Administration Law 2000.

Following the development, security was reinforced across Sagbama Local Government Area, particularly around the council secretariat, critical government buildings and other strategic government facilities.

Security agencies have continued to closely monitor the situation to prevent any breakdown of law and order following the suspension.

The development is expected to generate further political and administrative activities as relevant authorities proceed with the necessary steps arising from the Assembly’s decision.
