Police in Gombe State are investigating the discovery of three mutilated corpses in Billiri Local Government Area, sources said.
The sources said that the victims were identified as Ibrahim Jatau, 30, of Bangunji Village, Shongom LGA; Mela Bukar, 50, of Tal Ward; and Kinga Snu, 50, of Banganje Ward, all in Billiri LGA.
“The bodies were recovered with their eyes and some parts of their bodies removed,” the source said.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims were reportedly arrested by hunters from Taraba State, who had been patrolling between Shongom, Billiri, and Akko LGAs.
The group is said to have camped at Tudun Kwaya Government Day Secondary School on Jan. 25 and left on Jan. 28.
The police said investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the killings and the motive behind the mutilation.
Residents have been urged to provide any information that could assist authorities in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
